The installed capacity for recycling flexible polyethylene (PE: PE-LD, PE-LLD PE-MD & PE-HD) has been increasing significantly over the last years.

 

The European plastics recycling industry welcomes and fully supports the Plastics Strategy published by the European Commission. Guidelines and measurements outlined in the Strategy, if implemented swiftly and efficiently, can serve as the foundation for creating a truly sustainable and circular plastics market, and in turn set Europe as the global industry leader.

 

Six European organisations from the plastics value chain have committed, in cooperation with the European Commission, to launch Circularity Platforms aiming to reach 50% plastics waste recycling by 2040. These will drive the recycling of plastic products in Europe and considerably reduce littering volumes.

Revised Design for Recycling Guidelines differentiate between the coloured and non-coloured polyolefin packaging.

A new study by Plastics Recyclers Europe shows that the 65% recycling target for plastic packaging is achievable by 2025. The study determines a set of measures and necessary tools that will result in attaining this recycling rate.
